What Is a CNA?
A CNA is a state-certified direct care worker who is eligible to work in a variety of settings including:
- skilled care facilities (nursing homes)
- assisted living
- home health care
- hospitals (PCA)
- rehabilitation
- hospice
- memory care
Requirements for Registration
- Reading at 9th-grade level
- Math skills at 6th-grade level
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within one year prior to class
- Criminal background check
- 100% mandatory attendance
- Timely completion of assignments
- Minimum score of 75% on all homework and tests

Health Career Pathways Program Description
Our licensed nurse aide training is an 81-hour course meeting all the requirements of the State of Michigan Nurse Aide Training.
The class is a combination of classroom, laboratory, and clinical training.
In-Person 13-Day Accelerated Training
We encourage students to join our training who are interested in learning how to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to those who need partial or total assistance.
Our 81-hour State of Michigan licensed program introduces students to basic physical care, body systems, age-related changes, infection prevention, disease processes, medical terminology, and more.
Academic training is presented through lectures, homework, and tests. Skills are demonstrated by the instructors. You will practice the skills and be evaluated by the instructors.
The clinical experience is completed in three days in a local nursing home where you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of instructors.

Skills for Success
This course not only meets but exceeds the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) standards for nurse aide training.
Students are expected to spend a minimum of two hours of homework daily.
Tuition
How much do Nurse Aide Classes cost?
Tuition is $1650 and includes text book, syllabus, and supplemental materials.
Your tuition could be paid for by a sponsor!
Some sponsors will pay for your shoes, scrubs, a watch.
If you are not eligible for sponsorship, private pay tuition is an option.

A sponsor is an agency or facility that will pay the tuition for your classes. You must meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship.

Sponsors could include your workplace. Sponsors could be a government agency such as the YOU program, Michigan Works, or Michigan Rehabilitation Services. Sponsors may also provide scrubs, shoes and a watch.

Can I be sponsored after I register for Classes?
No. You must be approved by a sponsor to register for a class.
What if I am not eligible to be sponsored?
Some employers will partially reimburse the cost of your class. This is a good question to ask at a job interview.
What is the cost of tuition if I am not sponsored?
Private pay tuition is $1,650. Nurse Aide Textbook included.
If you are not eligible for sponsorship contact HCP for possible options.

What happens after graduation?
Upon successful completion of the training, a student is eligible to take the
$175 state certification exam.
